Hammerson is pleased to announce the signing of boutique bowling brand, Lane7, at Dundrum Town Centre as it continues to diversify the use and purpose of its Ireland portfolio by introducing new entertainment and leisure concepts, high-profile international brands, and market firsts.
Bringing in the after-hours economy, Lane7 will open a new 14,500 sq ft entertainment space this December, which will include bowling, augmented darts, floor shuffle, curling, ping pong, pool and dedicated karaoke booths. The signing follows Lane7’s success at Hammerson’s destination in Birmingham city centre - Bullring & Grand Central – now one of its top performing sites.
New lifestyle destination
The new Lane7 will animate Pembroke Square and forms part of a wider strategy to transform the promenade, which wraps Dundrum’s iconic fountains into a lifestyle destination - marrying entertainment, retail, leisure, restaurants and culture. Further value will be unlocked at Pembroke Square, through continued cultural events programming, driving footfall and customer engagement.
- Sitting beneath Lane7 will be a new Chinese dining concept, Roncheng, bringing the 5 traditional flavours of the Far East, sweet, bitter, sour, spicy and salty to Dublin, against the backdrop of a vibrant and refined setting. The 4,700 sq ft restaurant will open in Q4 2024
- Lovisa, the fashionable on-trend jewellery specialist will also open a new store at Dundrum, meeting demand for on-trend affordable jewellery amongst a young demographic. The Australian brand has rapidly expanded its presence in the UK & Ireland, and this will be its fourth store in Dublin.
- Digitally-native jewellers, Dylan Oaks, will also open its first ever store in Dublin later this year at Dundrum Town Centre. The brand has grown a huge following for its personalised pieces, including its necklaces and bracelets, by tapping into the fashion zeitgeist and partnering with influencers.
Connor Owens, Managing Director, Asset Management (Ireland) said: “This is another important milestone for Dundrum, as we continue to reposition our assets through new social concepts, which not only diversifies our occupier mix, but also drives footfall and customer engagement.
Last year was significant for our Irish portfolio. Virtual reality concept Zero Latency opened at Swords Pavilions, expanding the asset’s use and proposition, while at Dundrum we repurposed over 200,000 sq ft to introduce the first ever Nike Live in Ireland, a new flagship Penneys, and Dunnes Stores, which in turn pushed footfall up 3.3% year on year.
Lane7 is strategically positioned on Pembroke Square – a carefully curated outdoor space where we can unlock further value and create one of Dublin’s most vibrant lifestyle destinations. We’re excited that through new uses and concepts, our vision to transform the portfolio from places where people come only to shop, to multi-purpose ‘destinations’, is coming to life.”
Gavin Hughes, Managing Director, Lane7 said: “We are incredibly excited for Lane7’s first venue in Ireland. We know how much the people of Dublin love a good night out, and we’re looking forward to showing them what Lane7 has to offer.”
The new signings follow the announcement this spring that JD Sports will open one of its largest stores in Ireland, whilst beauty retailer Space NK will open its second store in the country at Dundrum Town Centre.
The repositioning of Dundrum Town Centre reached new milestones last year with the repurposing of over 200k sq ft to introduce the first ever Nike Live in Ireland, Penneys, Dunnes Stores, Skechers and the new best-in-class penthouse workspace for Western Union. Supported by a series of cultural programming and events, this investment generated an increase in footfall (+3.3%) and sales (+1.5%) for the destination in 2023 vs 2022.
