Charity Partnerships

Hammerson is committed to supporting communities local to our assets and offices and partnerships with charities is fundamental to this commitment. We take both a corporate and asset centric approach to our charitable activity and focus on four guiding principles where we believe we have the greatest potential for positive change: Developing Young People, Health and Wellbeing, Employment & Skills and Local Investment & Enterprise. These principles ensure our charitable activity is directed locally but remains focused and effective. On this page, you will learn more about how we partner and collaborate with charities.

UK Corporate Charity Partner

Every two years we select a UK corporate charity partner. In addition to a cash donation, we identify opportunities to maximise the partnership, developing a strong relationship between the charity and our employees.

Our 2023-2025 Corporate Charity Partner is LandAid, the property industry charity working to end youth homelessness in the UK. LandAid brings together businesses and individuals from across the industry to support charities delivering life-changing projects for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness.

To date, colleagues have supported the LandAid SleepOut, raising over £2,500 for the charity. Further activity planned during 2023 includes colleagues supporting the LandAid 10k Run and volunteering.

Charity Bursaries

Each of our destinations are allocated an annual bursary to support a local charity, or charities (two) of their choice. Through a shortlisting and voting process, our on-site colleagues select the local charity or charities to be the recipient of their bursary. Charities must be operating locally and address needs and issues within the parameters of our four guiding principles.

In addition to a cash donation and mall space to fundraise, our on-site teams strengthen their relationship with the selected charity or charities through volunteering and fundraising. Charities considered must have a strong presence within the local communities adjacent to our assets.

Further information relating to current bursary partners can be found on our destinations websites.

Employee Match Funding

Hammerson is committed to supporting our employees making a positive difference to our communities through charitable fundraising. Hammerson provides match funding of up to £250 or €250 per employee’s fundraiser for their chosen charity.

In 2022, Hammerson provided over £6,500 in employee match funding to nine charities including Cardiac Risk In The Young, Brain Tumour Research, Movember, ABC to Read and the Dublin Simon Community.
