Hammerson supports local communities on Giving Back Day

Hammerson colleagues came together to give back to local communities across the UK, Ireland and France.

For the first time in 10 years, colleagues from all geographies came together for  Hammerson’s 2023 ‘Giving Back Day’, supporting their local communities and charity partners. The initiative reflects the Group’s commitment to delivering social value across four key areas which are defined in Hammerson’s 2022 ESG Report: building skills and employment, developing young people, encouraging and supporting local investment and enteprise and health and wellbeing.

From mentoring to mucking out stables
In the UK, colleagues were involved in  a range of activities from painting and reed cutting to mentoring and hosting mock interviews across seven charities: The Cow Shed, Smart Works, Edward Wilson Primary School, London Wildlife Trust, The Tresham Centre for Disabled Children and Young People, Open Age and Marylebone Boy’s School.

In Ireland, the team volunteered at The Irish Horse Welfare Trust, which cares for neglected horses by grooming, mucking out and refurbishing stables and gardening.  Across the channel in France, colleagues in Paris and Marseille collected and sorted second hand clothing for charity partner La Cravate Solidaire which helps and supports unemployed people get back into the workplace.

Positive impact on the communities we serve
Across our portfolio we support 30,000 jobs through our retail, dining and social partners, whilst contributing significantly to the local economy. Through hosting community projects and supporting local on-site charity activities, Hammerson’s vision is to make a positive impact on the communities in which our assets serve. Giving Back Day is an extension of this and provides  the charities partners with  additional resources and support.
