Hammerson is pleased to announce that it has repositioned 200k sq ft of retail space at Dundrum Town Centre, with the signing of Dunnes Stores as it successfully continues to evolve its retail and leisure destination in Dublin.
The new signings further demonstrate Hammerson’s ability to successful enliven its portfolio of city centre destinations by leveraging its unique locations, increasing its focus on placemaking and introducing leading brands to create exceptional environments for visitors and occupiers.
Following popular demand, Dunnes Stores, Ireland’s leading retailer, is making its long-awaited debut at Dundrum and will open October 2023.
- Leading retailer Dunnes Stores has taken a prime location at Dundrum Town Centre and the new 55,000 sq ft store will offer an extensive homewares range, alongside children’s, men’s, and women’s fashion.
- New workspace for Western Union. This new 11,700 sq ft work and collaboration space repurposes a former retail storage into a best-in-class penthouse office in a first of its kind at Dundrum. Set to open imminently, the new office exemplifies the value that the amenities and connectivity at Dundrum bring to occupiers and visitors alike.
- New health & beauty opening - Superdrug will transform a former 8,000 sq ft fashion unit into a new cosmetics store. Located next to the newly upsized Penneys, the brand will further strengthen the health and beauty offering and diversify the retail offer. Superdrug will open on 28th July.
- Western Union and Superdrug following the recent openings of key occupiers including Penneys, Nike Live, Tag Heuer and Brown Thomas.
A major reconfiguring & repositioning
The three new signings form part of a major reconfiguration and repositioning of Dundrum Town Centre, which has seen new and highly sought after contemporary brands replace legacy brands, whilst floorplates were reimagined to create modern and attractive trading space for occupiers.
The opening of Brown Thomas in February 2022 began the reconfiguration.
- Brown Thomas took two floors on the Basement Level and Level 1, previously occupied by House of Fraser (which occupied four floors).
- The new 62,000 sq ft store - with a multi-million euro fit out - opened with DJs and much fanfare and acts to provide an important foundation for the north end of the destination.
- Its Planet Beauty, Sustainable Fashion, Rental Service and Sanctuary Space have been hugely popular with customers, driving footfall, sales and social media engagement.
In June 2023 Penneys fulfilled its longstanding upsize ambitions at Dundrum.
- The much-loved Irish retailer took the opportunity to increase its retail space by 64 per cent at Dundrum as part of a relocation and extensive upsize.
- It moved into a new 80,000 sq ft store on two floors above Brown Thomas (previously occupied by House of Fraser).
- The addition of Superdrug (announced today) next to Penneys further expands and strengthens the visitor offering at Dundrum.
Dunnes Stores comes to Dundrum.
- The brand will further enliven the southern end of Dundrum, bringing with it an extensive fashion and home store in collaboration with some of Ireland’s top designers.
- Dunnes Stores has consistently been at the top of customer wish lists in surveys and is expected to be a highly anticipated new opening in H2 2023.
