Hammerson, IPUT and Irish Life, joint owners of the Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre, will launch a new restaurant quarter later on this year as it announces the first restaurants to sign up to the enhanced leisure offer at North Dublin’s leading shopping destination.

Consisting of three new restaurants, a new glazed bridge link has been designed as part of the €3.3m scheme and will create a link for customers from the first floor retail mall which is home to TK Maxx, Next and H&M to the new restaurant quarter.

Located on the upper level adjacent to the Movies @ Swords cinema and Zara, the owners have already attracted American burger chain Five Guys and well-loved pizza brand, Milano. The new additions to the line up and additional investment at Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre come at a time when consumer confidence is at a record high in Ireland and is its highest level since 2008, according to the KBC/ESRI Index.

Following Five Guys’ successful debut into the Irish market with Hammerson at Dundrum, the brand will open its latest restaurant at Swords Pavilions. The 3,000 sq ft unit will serve Five Guys’ iconic menu of fresh burgers and fries and thanks to a choice of toppings, you can customise your burger order 250,000 possible ways. The restaurant will also include Coco Cola’s Freestyle touch-screen soda machine, which includes over 100 flavour varieties.

Bringing pizza perfection to Swords Pavilions is Milano, who will open a 3,400 sq ft restaurant. Part of the Pizza Express superbrand, Milano was established in Ireland in 1995, now with 16 locations across the country. Known for their consistency with food and service, seasonal fresh approaches to the menu and all of their well-loved classic dishes makes Milano a family and friends favourite in Ireland.  An additional 2,200 sq ft restaurant completes the new line up.

As part of the leisure enhancement which will extend the centre’s consumer dwell time, JD Sports is relocating into a new 10,000 sq ft store at ground floor level creating a brand new store.

Work on the new scheme is scheduled to commence this month and the new restaurants are planned to open later this year.

The investment in the leisure offer at Swords Pavilions follows the opening of cult Australian stationery brand Smiggle at the beginning of the year. This follows the announcement by River Island to upsize into a larger flagship store, allowing the fashion favourite to showcase its innovative fit-out and new store concepts across its fashion and homeware ranges.

Simon Betty, Hammerson Director of Retail Ireland, said: “The creation of a new restaurant quarter continues to deliver a new and improved offer for our customers and ensures Swords Pavilions maintains its position as the main retail destination in North Dublin. It is testament to our status in the region that we have secured a high-profile brand such as Five Guys in the early stages of its Irish expansion and we are delighted to be part of their continued success.”

Speaking on the opening of its latest restaurant, David Malanaphy, Managing Director of Five Guys Ireland said: “We are delighted to be opening in Swords Pavilions. We chose this location as it is an iconic shopping centre, with a really strong tenant mix. We hope it will be a big hit with shoppers.”

A spokesperson for Milano, added: “We are very excited to be part of the new restaurant Quarter. We look forward to sharing our Milano Magic with the people of Swords.”

Warren Thompson, Acquisitions Director for JD commented: “We are excited to invest and create a large store for JD in Swords Pavilions.  The new store will allow us to offer a wide range of the latest products to our customers.”
