Charity Super.Mk is extending its run at Hammerson’s Cabot Circus by a month and welcoming five new charities as part of its line-up for August, following a hugely successful launch.

Due to high demand, customers will now be able to buy second-hand items until 24th September. The pop-up which opened just three weeks ago (20th July) has already sold over 5,000 clothes, accessories and shoes with almost 500 items sold on opening night alone.

New charity partners & free event
As part of a commitment to provide more fundraising opportunities for local and national charities, Charity Super.Mkt has introduced five new charities this month: Shelter, Bath Cats & Dogs, GWAA, Weston Hospicecare and Havens Hospices, with volunteers already getting stuck in.

To celebrate, Charity Super.Mkt will be hosting a free event on Thursday 10th August with vinyl DJ sets and a new eclectic mix of pre-loved items from luxury fashion houses to high street favourites.

On track for £1 million
The ‘department store for second-hand style’ has been the most talked about new fashion concept this year and is now on course to raise over £1 million for charity, having already reached £627,000 alone at Hammerson’s retail and leisure destinations, Brent Cross (London) and The Oracle (Reading).

The arrival and incubation of Charity Super.Mkt, the first ever multi-charity retail store in the UK, underpins a wider strategy from Hammerson, the owner, operator and developer of sustainable prime urban real estate to enliven and reinvigorate its assets by introducing new brands, concepts and market firsts which excite and engage new audiences. This recurrent partnership demonstrates the appeal and quality of Hammerson’s city centre assets to high-profile brands.

Success in Bristol - UK’s Green City
The selection of Bristol, the UK’s third greenest city, a former European Green Capital and the UK’s first ‘cycling city’ for its latest showcase, has paid off for founders Wayne Hemingway and Maria Chenoweth.

Wayne Hemingway said: “One of the reasons we selected Cabot Circus for Charity Super.Mkt is that we knew Bristol embodied the concept of ‘circular economy’ and would understand our unique business model. Charity Super.Mkt is miles ahead when it comes to delivering purposeful retail and has so far been a huge success, meaning that the charities involved are raising thousands for good causes, and more and more customers realise the importance of sustainable shopping. This is just the start of our relationship with this great city!”

TRAID CEO and Bristol native, Maria Chenoweth, commented: “Bringing Charity Super.Mkt to Cabot Circus has been an amazing experience for us and the charities involved. The long queues on opening night showed that this is the right city for the concept and it’s been fantastic to see how customers are embracing charity fashion and shopping. We’re excited to be extending our stay in Bristol and can’t wait for customers to see for themselves the new collection curated by our new charities this month.”

Sarah Tinsley, Director of Marketing & Placemaking at Hammerson said: “The success of Charity Super.Mkt is testament to how we are being fearless with our approach to incubating new brands and introducing market firsts to enhance the experience for our customers and occupiers. This is an exciting new concept for Cabot Circus which underpins Hammerson’s ESG commitments to make a positive impact on the environment via our assets and brand partners.”
