After going viral and becoming a social media sensation in just a matter of days, Cabot Circus’ half term pop-pop skatepark is back by popular demand this October.
Cabot Circus has partnered with Bristol-based skatepark designers, Canvas and as its owner Hammerson continues to enliven the destination by introducing new concepts, market firsts, leading brands, and partnerships to excite and engage customers.
In a refreshed offering, with new obstacles and nine days of skating, the pop-up event will include beginners’ sessions with The Boarding school during the week, lessons with Route One, and a Canvas skating competition on Saturday 28 October.
Going viral
The skatepark caused a sensation when it was unveiled last year - the first time a carpark had been transformed into a dedicated safe space for the city’s young skateboarders. It’s impact however was far-reaching with skaters travelling as far as Brighton, London, Milton Keynes and even Birmingham to check out the skatepark.
Amongst the visitors were professional skaters and influencers who rushed to test the assortment of obstacles from curbs and rails to challenging ledges. Following successful social posts from pro skaters including Jamie Griffin and Alice Smith and Team GB’s Alex Decunha, Cabot Circus has once again teamed up with top skaters including Stefani Nurding, Rianne Evans, Alex Decunha and Adam Kay.
Community: Obstacles donated to the city
In a unique partnership with Bristol Council, obstacles constructed by Canvas will be donated to and repurposed within Bristol skateparks, inspiring the next generation
Championing Bristol’s arts and culture scene
The return of the skatepark caps a remarkable autumn at Cabot Circus which continues to champion and provide a platform for Bristol’s creatives. Earlier this month, a mural celebrating the city was unveiled on Broadmead in partnership with Aardman and Upfest, while a one-off gig at Cabot Circus with Roni Size, Daddy G and Jody Wisternoff to celebrate Unicornfest brought the community together, whilst raising important funds for Leukaemia Care.
During half term, customers feeling creative will be able to participate in a series of workshops hosted at independent Bristol retailer Prior, located in Quakers Friars.
