Hammerson today announced that Toys“R”Us, Britain’s biggest toy and babycare retailer, is opening its latest Christmas store at Silverburn in Glasgow.
Martin Plocica, Director (UK) Shopping Centres at Hammerson, added: Toys“R”Us is a great global brand, and a very strong addition to our retail offer at Silverburn given the centre’s significant popularity with families. Their decision to open such a large pop-up store highlights the centre’s strong destination appeal. This concept enables retailers to test new store formats, within a strong catchment area and Silverburn has achieved great traction with pop-ups during 2013.”
Commenting on their forthcoming pop-up store at Silverburn, Mike Coogan Marketing and eCommerce Director at Toys“R”Us, said: “We’ve chosen Silverburn in Scotland; it’s a great centre with a great reputation, serving a really strong catchment.”
The 900m² (9,700ft²) Toys“R”Us follows in the footsteps of successful pop-up concept stores, 1D World, and Lydia Brights woman’s fashion and gift boutique, Bella Sorella.
Silverburn achieved planning consent for a 200,000ft² leisure extension earlier this year, and secured seven new brands in the last 12 months, including a new SuperDry regional flagship.
Hammerson dealt directly and Johnson & Co represented Toys“R”Us.
