Silverburn selected for first One Direction pop-up store in Scotland

Hammerson has secured One Direction’s first 1D World pop-up store in Scotland at Silverburn.  The 2,270 sq ft store will open on July 20 for two weeks.

The opening of the Silverburn store is the latest in a series that has included New York, Sydney, Toronto, Barcelona, Madrid and Stockholm.  The Silverburn store is the group’s third in the UK, tenth in Europe and 29th in the world.

Commenting on the selection of Silverburn for the first 1D World store in Scotland, Martin Plocica, Director (UK) Shopping Centres at Hammerson, said: “One Direction’s choice of Silverburn for their first pop-up in Scotland reflects the centre’s position as the destination of choice of concept stores, flagships and creative pop-ups from leading brands.”

Fans of the group will be able to take photos with the picture boards, partake in exclusive competitions, pick up offers and merchandise bundles, plus stock ranging from T-Shirts to posters, phone cases, caps, calendars and life-size cardboard stand-ups.  1D World Glasgow will also be offering some new designs, plus a chance for fans to purchase merchandise from the band’s recent world tour.

Since the launch of their debut single ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ in 2011, the group have gone on to sell 30+ million records & DVDs globally and topped the charts in over 37 countries.

The arrival of 1D World follows the opening of Superdry’s new regional flagship earlier this month at Silverburn.  The 7,592 sq ft store is almost twice as large as Superdry’s previous unit at Silverburn, and allowed the brand to consolidate its presence outside Glasgow city centre to one dominant location serving the region.
