Over 150,000 shoppers visited Hammerson’s £400m Les Terrasses du Port shopping centre over its launch weekend.
Visitors were treated to an acrobatic display before the doors opened to the 190 stores and restaurants in the centre’s unique seaside location.
Les Terrasses du Port launched 97% let by income, with 35 of the brands new to Marseille, including Ted Baker, Uniqlo and Citadium. Parisian department store Printemps opened its first new store in 30 years as the anchor retailer.
The centre’s impressive 260m restaurant terrace was a highlight with consumers, as diners enjoyed the sunshine and unrivalled views of the Mediterranean Sea.
15,000 shoppers signed up to Hammerson’s new app, PLUS, which features geolocation technology powered by the largest installation of iBeacons in Europe and the app has already been rated in the Top Ten lifestyle apps in France on The App Store.
David Atkins, Hammerson Chief Executive, commented: “There was a fantastic response from consumers to Les Terrasses du Port on its launch weekend and opening the centre virtually fully let demonstrates real confidence from both domestic and international brands in the French retail market.”
