Retail success celebrated at We Love Retail Awards

Retailers across Hammerson’s shopping centre and retail parks portfolio have been recognised at its annual We Love Retail award ceremony which celebrates the best in customer service.

Over 170 million shoppers visit Hammerson schemes in the UK each year and all the nominees underwent a gruelling mystery shop process to test the customer service within each store. The winners were decided based on a combined score from the mystery shop and the stores’ sales performance.

The award ceremony took place at the Marriott Hotel, London, and was hosted by musician and presenter Myleene Klass. Over 200 people attended, including staff from the nominated stores, and their Head Office retail colleagues, the Hammerson retail team and its shopping centre teams.

The evening saw 18 winners recognised for exceptional customer service with YO! Sushi taking the prestigious Customer Service Champion of the Year award.

John Lewis at WestQuay won the award for best Department Store, Next at Cyfarthfa Retail Park won best Out of Town Retailer and Reiss at The Oracle won the mixed fashion category.

This year also saw the introduction of the Best Newcomer award, for any store opened within the last 12 months across Hammerson’s portfolio, which was won by Kiehl’s at Brent Cross.

In the age of online retail, providing consumers with exceptional and friendly service ensures that the physical experience continues to play a key role.”

The event was sponsored by a number of organisations that work closely with Hammerson including 383 Project, Axon, Eversheds, Frank PR, FSP, Herbert Smith, Isobel, James Glancy Design, Javelin and Transform UK alongside charity partner The Retail Trust.
