Hammerson has confirmed that its major retail scheme in Marseille, Les Terrasses du Port, will open to consumers on Saturday 3rd May 2014.
The €466million scheme, which is 93% let, will be the largest French retail development to launch during 2014 and represents Hammerson’s first major retail development to be delivered in France.
On opening, Les Terrasses du Port will create over 2,000 new retail jobs and will bring 30 new retailers to Marseille out of the 190 store line up. The scheme also forms part of Marseille’s major regeneration zone, Euroméditerranée, which will deliver 480 hectares of development including over 20,000 new homes and over 1.2million m² of office and retail space.
The four level scheme will provide a unique retail and leisure environment, which includes a 260m terrace for six restaurants overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.
Leading the fashion and lifestyle line up at the 61,0000m² centre is Printemps, the French department store which anchors the top level of the scheme alongside high end designers including Hugo Boss and Michael Kors. The third floor will be dedicated to the best international brands including Zara, H&M and Mango to Pull & Bear and Aldo. A food hall and homeware brands will welcome consumers on the ground floor and Monoprix, the centre’s supermarket, will anchor the lower level.
Commenting on the announcement, Hammerson Chief Executive David Atkins said: “Retailers have been consistently impressed with both Marseille and the retail opportunity within the scheme. Les Terrasses du Port will offer visitors an exceptional experience which we are confident will attract a widespread and loyal consumer base for our retailers.”
