Hammerson has secured American burger chain Five Guys for a new restaurant at The Oracle in Reading taking the shopping centre to 100% let.
Five Guys, which opened its first UK restaurant this summer, will open a 345m2 (3,720ft2) restaurant at The Oracle in August, which will be the brand’s first restaurant outside of the capital and the first in a shopping centre.
Five Guys currently has 1,100 restaurants across the USA and Canada, and over the past four years has retained the accolade of America’s fastest growing burger chain. The family owned restaurant focuses on serving high quality, fresh burgers and fries. All sandwiches are customizable with a choice of 15 toppings and the restaurant will also include Coca Cola’s Freestyle touch-screen soda machine that includes over 100 flavour varieties.
Chris Daly, Leasing Executive at Hammerson, said, “It’s fantastic to attract such a successful US brand to one of our centres and be part of Five Guys’ launch to the UK market. The British consumers’ appetite for burgers remains strong with the market worth £2.8bn last year. Continually being able to offer our customers new concepts ensures The Oracle maintains its position as the main retail destination in the region.”
John Eckbert, Director of Five Guys UK, said: “We are very excited to be opening Five Guys in Reading. We are humbled and appreciative of the response we have received from customers in London and are just as excited to become a part of the Reading community.”
Hammerson was advised by Bruce Gillingham Pollard.
